The Wiz is an adaptation of L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz that reimagines Dorothy’s adventure through the lens of Black joy. When young Dorothy is ripped from Kansas and tossed into the new and unfamiliar Land of Oz, she sets off on a journey to find the infamous Wiz to get back home. Meeting wild and fantastical friends on the way, she learns to slowly accept a world as free and unapologetic as Oz, accepting herself in return. With a classic, electric score and a heartwarming story, The Wiz explores themes of celebration, freedom, and belonging, redefining its source material to teach us what home truly means: a place where one can feel seen and loved unconditionally.
